Transition from Pensioenfonds Staples (SPS) to Aegon: Important information!

29 July 2025

Since 1 July 2025, your accrued pension has been transferred to Aegon Life Insurance, a subsidiary of a.s.r.. This means you have a direct pension entitlement with Aegon. This entitlement is equal to the pension you accrued with SPS. It is a guaranteed pension that cannot be reduced by Aegon. SPS will continue to administer the pension scheme for the time being, but on behalf of Aegon. We expect to transfer the pension administration to Aegon on 1 November 2025. From that moment on, you can contact Aegon with all your pension questions.

The transition will change the way in which your accrued pension is increased in the future. Until now, your pension has been increased based on the Dutch price increase. This depended on market conditions, the financial situation of the pension fund and legislation and regulations. From 1 January 2026, your pension will be increased each year in line with European price inflation (HICPxT). If this price inflation rises by more than 20% in any given year, your pension will be increased by a maximum of 20%. The annual increases are guaranteed, i.e. unconditional. The transition creates the possibility of a one-off interim increase in your pension of probably 1.8%. These and other more limited changes are set out in the Addenda to the pension regulations. You can find these documents under the heading “Regulations”.
